" It is no dishonor to be in a minority in the cause of liberty and virtue."

Samuel Adams

  • 2002:  I receive Darren Lund's complaint from the Alberta Human Right's Commission.  I am notified by the AHRC that I can participate in a 'Conciliation' process.  In Lund's correspondence with the Commission he states that I need to be re-educated.  Due to his position, there was no possibility for conciliation.  It was more important for me to stand firm than to attempt to change Lund's perspective.  In my opinion, to attempt such would have proved to be arrogance and in vain.
  • Summer of 2002:  Lund libels me in the Red Deer Advocate by paralleling me to "other hatemongers" in the area such as Terry Long of the Aryan Nation and James Keegstra, Holocaust denier.  After consultation with defamation attorney, Ezra Levant, a libel suit was filed against Lund.
  • Summer of 2003:  I was investigated by an officer of the AHRC who determined that I was not guilty.  (Officer Shirley McGovern of the AHRC also stated that she recommended that I be aquitted during her videotaped interrogation  of Ezra Levant in early 2008.)
  • 2004:  Darren Lund appeals the AHRC's decision to the Chief Commissioner.  Lund submits his appeal on University of Calgary letterhead.
  • 2005:  Lund is granted his appeal.
  • 2006 to 2007:  Preliminary matters are debated.
  • July 2007:  My attorneys and I attend the AHRC Tribunal and present a 'legal' defence against Lund's complaint using the Canadian Charter of Right & Freedoms, examples of case law, expert witnesses and something rarely found in these settings, 'reason.'
  • November 2007:  The AHRC's Panel Chair rule in favour of Lund and find me guilty.
  • It has cost tens of thousands of dollars to defend against this infringement on my rights as a Canadian Citizen and Biblically based Christian.

  • May 30, 2008 -  Remedy Ruling: $7000.00 in fines, public apology and no 'disparaging' comments about homosexuality of the case.  http://www.albertahumanrights.ab.ca/Lund_Darren_Remedy053008.pdf
  • Appeal filed on June 26, 2008 with the Court of Queens Bench of Alberta - Judical District of Calgary.  Read it here .
